Everything that we do begins with a thought. Our thoughts evolve into these plans that can either help or prevent us from staying healthy. Planning to be as healthy as we can requires that we find the answer(s) to each of these following questions: Who is(are) involved?
Possible answers: You alone, you and a family member, spouse, or friends. Why is it necessary? Possible answers: To feel good, to keep a healthy weight, or for diabetes control. How will it happen? Possible answers: Exercise by running, jogging, or playing a sport. Eat smaller portions or add one more food group (e.g., whole grains) to a meal on a given day. Seek advice and support from close individuals or professionals. Focus more on what matters the most and can contribute to making progress. What are the alternatives? Possible answers: Enroll in a health club, fitness program, or wellness program. When to begin? Possible answers: On a specific hour, day, and week of the month. Where will it happen? Possible answers: Exercise at home, the gym, church, work, or park, The answers to these questions will guide you in making an informed and solid decision on the purpose of your health plan and the steps you will take to successfully carry out your plan. Always remember to set achievable goals at the beginning. Make incremental changes every other day or week based on how much progress you've made and are able to continue making.
